Poem #26
You are my Marily Monroe.
I am your Audrey Hepburn.
You tell me my sweaters look like an old woman.
I tell you your shirts are too revealing.
You are my better half, but my complete opposite.
We don’t always agree, but you are brutally honest.
My hair is always straight and smooth, yours is always big and messy.
I always find myself laughing with you, not knowing why we even began.
I get your way of talking in circles, and my ways of making no sense at all.
I am a stronger person with help from you, you are the strongest person I know.
I love you Jess, my best friend
Poem 25
Best Friend.
I met you not knowing I would grow to need you.
Our random nights of laughter and directions gone wrong.
You knew me, and I was ok with that.
Our dreams and secrets never were kept unspoken.
I never thought what we had could ever be broken.
Days and years passed by like time always does.
You chose to fight for our country, I look up to you for that.
You returned from tour with me runing through your door.
Things were like they always used to be, but you told me your feelings had changed.
This came as a shock to me at first, but I grew to feel those words you were saying.
But love isn’t easy, and you probably wouldn’t have even have defined it as love.
And that day came that you walked away, that in return lost me.
Best friends come and go I know that.
But you lost me, I didn’t lose you.
Blog #23
In class, we have sort of stopped getting into groups and talking about topics for our blog and poem themes, so I am going to just pick a subject that I am currently dealing with in my life that I can write a poem about. So, here goes-I will first give you the subject of this poem because it actually relates to a journey and focuses on the ‘trial’ part of it.
I have had the same GUY best friend for the past 5 years, we met through a boy I was dating at the time. Please keep in mind the capital letters=GUY. Anyways, this boy and I went through a lot together, helped eachother through the typical growing up phases and he enlisted with the Army. Which led to him going to boot camp, and then to Iraq for almost a year. Our friendship never changed, through the past few years, and until just a month ago. My best friend let me know he had feelings for me. Surprised? Well I was at the time.
To not go into too much detail, I let myself ‘feel’ things for him to find out he still had his same girlfriend, and that he was saying the same ‘sweet’ things to her as to me. And now, we no longer speak. In a matter of days, I lost my best friend to more than a friend then to absolutely nothing at all.
bLoG #22
For this blog, I am to describe what I will be doing for my final project. First of all, I will be working in a group with Nicole and Courtney. We have not finalized what we are going to do for sure yet, but we are thinking about doing a short video of either ourselves, or of ‘livestock’ and make a quick humurous clip of a epic journey ourselves, or the livestock go on.
I feel that if we do this, it will show our full understanding of journeys, as we learned this semester-and how we added our own personal flare to entertain others. If we do not decide to do the video, we will probably create a poster, or do a quick skit in front of the group.

Quiz November 11, 2009
1. Why do you think the producer’s changed the ending of the movie from the book? I really don’t know why they decided to do these two differently, as far as ending goes. My personal opinion is, with the book it was detailed and dark and then light and evil emerged into good. But, with the movie, I felt that they had to make Celie look as if she had a closure with Mister and that he went on with his life, and she went on with hers-happily. Because in the book, it has how Celie became an ‘acquainteance’ with Mister, they actually would speak and visit, and Mister began to see things the way Celie did. As for the book, they just had moments-ex: Celie saw Mister outside her shop the one night, and then at the end when Mister is with his horse-watching Celie and Shug reunite.
2. 2 Examples and Explain why Shug’s character is different from the book to the movie-First of all, within the book, I felt like Shug was a lot more selfish, and catered to herself-yes what she did with Celie through the book helped Celie, and her intentions were good-but there was always a selfish side that shown through a lot. As for the movie side, Shug does a complete transformation from the beginning arriving sick the one night saying ‘you ugly’ to Celie, to the end having her be with her on her front porch, like old friends. Another example of a difference of Shug’s character between book and movie is the mention of Shug’s desperate need for her father’s attention. Yes it was mentioned in the book, but I feel it was more dominant, and a huge importance in the role of Shug within the movie.
3. Compare character Celie to any character we have looked at so far this semester-A character that we have learned about this semester, that reminds me of Celie is not exactly a ‘character’ but many different archetypes-she was the caregiver (for obvious reasons), the warrior, the fool. She was all of these archetypes along her monomythic journey.
4. How am I like Celie-A characteristic of Celie that I found myself a lot like, is how she talks to God first and foremost, I don’t write letters to him every day, but I do talk to him, and it is a sense of comfort-like it was a sense of comfort for Celie. Also, the fact that it was easier most of the time for her to just be told what to do, because things did need done at her home with Mister, so instead of fighting, she would just listen and do what was told-I find myself doing that sometimes when it comes to getting things done, instead of talking back.

Blog for Monday 11-2
For this blog I am to talk about the ‘master of two worlds.’ A movie that comes to mind with this is Batman. Within the movie the actor has to keep seperate identities between his real life self along with the superhero he is when there is a problem anywhere.
For me, I never really had to be two different people-but a personal experience that comes to mind when talking about this is when I was in a play in 4th grade-I had to be the Dew Princess in Hanzel and Gretel.
For this play, I had to be myself during the day at school, and then the Dew Princess at practice and for the main production. I think Batman and my personal experience are two very good examples of being a ‘master of two worlds’.
Halloween Poem
It was dark and dreary with the black cat on the fence
Boo Boo Boo Boo
The cat jumped off to chase the rat
Boo Boo Boo Boo
The rat ran into a hole too small for the cat
Boo Boo Boo Boo
The wind was singing a screamish song

Quiz for 10-28
1. Belly of the whale-a life experience I have went through when I have felt as I am in the ‘belly of the whale’ is when I was in my car accident, and was not able to play volleyball anymore. I still went and did stats for the team, but I felt like I was constantly reminded I could not play, because my friends were in front of me playing-and I was so close but yet so far. A song that reminds me of this specific time is ‘Eye of the Tiger’. They used the song to warm up every home game-and it reminds me of that time.
2. Supernatural Aid-a point in my life with ‘supernatural aid’ how about every day. I am a christian and God helps me through each day-without him I would not make it through. The song that reminds me of this is ‘Awesome God’ by Michael Smith.
3. Road of Trials-wow, this is a hard one-because it seems like within the past month every day has been a road of trials. But, that is what life is all about, and you have to keep pushing through, even when you want to give up. My grandma had a stroke this month, and today my grandfather is getting a heart catherization-one thing after another. But, we will make it through. A song that reminds me of this is and helps me is ‘Through the Storm’ by Elton John.
4. Temptation-for this one, I struggle with the temptation of the will to do my school work, along with my full time job-it is an every day temptation to slack off in either one, or some day’s both-and I can not do that. To get through this struggle, ‘Pocket full of sunshine’ by Natasha Bedingfield helps me.
5. Magic Flight-for this specific part of my monomythic journey-I feel is my oh so many runaway trips to florida-I do this alot. When life gets hectic I fly away, to florida. A song that reminds me of this, and one that I always listen to is a new songer, by Owl City-it is called Cave In.
